If you don’t come apart for a while, you will come apart after a while”

Rock River Retreat Center
Retreats offer a chance to quiet down and let God address the needs of our hearts. They’re a chance to learn more about prayer, to grow in our ability to hear God. Retreats are also about rest, about worship, prayer and discernment.
Because this is something new for us, there will be a pre-retreat meeting to answer questions and offer more information.
Please talk to Pastor Kathy as soon as possible if you would like to participate in this event. There is a cost involved, but assistance is available for anyone who needs it.
Contemplative Pathway Workshop
Saturday, April 25 at Bethany
What is a contemplative pathway? It is the study and practice of the various spiritual methods employed by God’s people over the centuries to draw closer to God.
Psalm 139:1-6, 13-14
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
… You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
The Contemplative Pathway draws us close to this God who knows us better than we know ourselves.
This workshop, which will be led by a trained Spiritual Director, will teach a variety of methods of making this happen. Included will be such practices as:
- Imaginative Bible mediate-tion
- Prayer of EXAMEN
- Lectio Divina
- Centering Prayer
Please talk to Pastor Kathy if you have questions or if you’d like to register for this event. We are not being charged anything for this exciting opportunity, but we do need a minimum of five attendees in order for the event to take place. Friends outside the congregation are welcome; please feel free to invite anyone you know who desires to go deeper in their relationship with God.
