SUNDAY SCHOOL has begun. Children will be dismissed from worship during the closing hymn and are asked to go directly to their classroom. Snacks will be served to grades P-6 in their classrooms.

Teaches: Pre-K – 2
Bio: I first taught Sunday School for Bethany Lutheran back when I was in high school. More recently, I’ve been teaching preschool and Kindergarten for the past three years. I’ve been assisting with Vacation Bible School for the past 5 years.
Favorite Bible story: Parable of the lost son.
Favorite Bible character: John the Baptist
Favorite verse: Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Why I teach Sunday school: I teach Sunday School because I love watching kids start learning about the Bible, worship, and praying as they start their faith journey. Their energy and inquisitiveness is so much fun. My time with them is one of the highlights of my week!
Rick Murray
Teaches: 3 – 7
Bio: I have been a Sunday School teacher for 10 years. Everyone at church knows I’m shy and quiet and could NEVER cause trouble. Yet occasionally, I’m forced to defend myself with a thousand water balloons or 10 tubs of Cool Whip.
Favorite Bible story: Samson fighting an entire army and beating them.
Favorite Bible characters: Samson and Daniel
Favorite verse: John 15:4: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
Why I teach Sunday school: With three boys in Sunday school, I wanted to be more active in my children’s spiritual education. Of course, I’m still a kid at heart, so I mix a lot of fun with learning more about our Savior, Jesus.
Chris Barten

Favorite Bible story: Noah’s Ark
Favorite Bible character: Joseph and his coat of many colors
Favorite verse: John 3:16 – it says it all: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Why I teach Sunday school: To be a role model for my kids and their friends and to bring them up in Christ. I believe parents need to take an active role in their child’s faith and help guide, develop, and strengthen their journey.
